McMillan Metro Faerber, P.C. is proud to announce that, on June 6, 2025, David P. Shapiro, a partner in the firm, became the first recipient of the Edward Gilliss Community Service Award. David was the President of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA) in 2022 and has remained an active contributor.
The Edward Gilliss Award was created upon Edward Gilliss’ sudden passing within the last year. Edward was a Baltimore County Attorney and also a past president of the Maryland State Bar Association.
This award was instituted to recognize members of the MSBA who exemplify the spirit of civic engagement and community service demonstrated by Edward J. Gilliss throughout his distinguished legal career. This annual award celebrates attorneys who, like Edward Gilliss, understand that the privilege of practicing law carries with it a responsibility to serve and strengthen our communities.
