An Advance Medical Directive (AMD) allows an Agent (spokesperson) to speak for you when you cannot and enables you to establish guidelines for treatment you do or do not want.
There are a wide range of decisions that your Agent can make and any decision you could make, your Agent could make. You get to decide who will be the trusted people to make these decisions for you. Your AMD will include a HIPAA waiver so that your trusted Agents can get the information that they need from your healthcare providers in order to make the best decisions for you.
